Hannah McNeely started this challenge on her YouTube channel and I thought it would be a great idea to give it a go! It will be so much fun if you joined me! What do you say? I will be starting this challenge on Friday 21 July 2017 and will end off next Friday 28 July 2017. Leave a comment down below if you’ll be doing this with me. You can even add me on Snapchat @boholiz as I’ll be posting my plastic adventures over there. I’ll make sure to add you back so we can follow each other!

How is plastic affecting the environment?

Plastic pollution involves the accumulation of plastic products in the environment that adversely affects wildlife, wildlife habitat, or humans. Plastics that act as pollutants are categorized into micro-, meso-, or macrodebris, based on size. … Plastic pollution can unfavorably affect lands, waterways and oceans.

How do plastic bags harm the environment?

Plastic bags tend to disrupt the environment in a serious way. They get into soil and slowly release toxic chemicals. They eventually break down into the soil, with the unfortunate consequence being that animals eat them and often choke and die.

Why Plastic pollution is a problem?

Because persistent organic pollutants in the marine environment attach to the surface of plastic debris, floating plastics in the oceans have been found to accumulate pollutants and transport them through ocean currents. … Plastic debris is polluting the human food chain.

So what can we do about it?

Even though our governments have resources set aside for this, it is still not enough. The earth is suffocating to death. So here’s a fun challenge for all of us to try!

It’s really simple, each time you need to throw away or recycle plastic you just make a checkmark in a little notebook or on your phone. Do this for 1 week. At the end of the week add all the tally marks. This challenge is not only going to make you aware of the hundreds of products wrapped in plastic but will also motivate you to not purchase or use these products. Give it a go, you have nothing to loose!
